Barwon Heads

Barwon Heads is a quiet little seaside village my family first started visiting back in the early nineties.  We used to stay in the caravan park right next to the mouth of the river. Little did I know back then the love affair I would develop with the Barwon Heads golf course.

The first six holes represent true links golf holes. When James May from Top Gear talks about feeling a fizz in his groin while driving some cars, the first tee at Barwon Heads is my golf course equivalent. The vista is as good as I’ve seen at any golf course.  The first tee sits adjacent to the Pro Shop and gives you a good look at four of the first six holes. If you are hitting off in the morning the sun rises to your left and as the light hits the naturally contoured mounds casts shadows that really accentuate undulations.

Short Game Practice Facilities

BHGC has recently updated their facilities with the addition of a new short game practice area, I’ve experienced some pretty impressive practice facilities, The National and Metropolitan come to mind. This new practice area is a beauty.

Par 3 Course

BHGC  have also updated their Par 3 course so now members have no excuse for bad short games.
